RESOLVE | SUNDERLAND

Every Parent Matters Foundation

Every Parent Matters Foundation is a peer-led community created by parents, for parents navigating the challenges of complex parenthood especially those who have experienced or are at risk of child removal, family separation, or loss through systems like social care, adoption, or the courts.

We recognise that parenthood doesn't always follow a straightforward path. Many of us are parenting through or after:

  • Mental health struggles
  • Domestic abuse
  • Poverty and housing instability
  • Substance use or recovery
  • Involvement with the care or justice systems
  • Bereavement, trauma, or historic loss

These challenges don’t make someone any less of a parent. In fact, they reveal the strength it takes to hold on to love, identity, and hope in the face of judgement, shame, or system involvement.

Every Parent Matters Foundation exists to create space, understanding, and change. Our work includes:

Peer Support & Safe Spaces

Confidential, welcoming, and stigma-free spaces where parents can connect, heal, and share without fear of judgement, whether through group sessions, creative workshops, or one-to-one peer support.

Insight & Lived Experience Research

We believe parents are the experts in their own lives. Through storytelling, participatory research, and creative expression, we make sure your voice shapes how services and policies work.

System Change, Led by Parents

We work with professionals, services, and policymakers to challenge stigma and redesign systems around real experiences because lasting change must be co-created with those most affected.

Our Values

We are rooted in compassion, honesty, hope, and dignity. We hold space for grief, growth, and recovery. And we believe that every parent matters, no matter their story.
